❚❚❚❚❚ BASICS.
■ NAME & ID CODE: D'Artagnan | NHD-A10-DRT-230 ■ CANON: The Musketeers (BBC). His canon point is the end of Episode 6, Series 2: Through a Glass Darkly. ■ AGE: 24 (approx) ■ CURRENT TEAM & STATUS: GREEN TEAM | Human male, no metahuman abilities. Passionate little shit, comes from the 17th Century. ■ LANGUAGE:
FRENCH: This is his native language. Notably, he's from the 17th Century, so even if you speak French his version of it will probably sound old-fashioned. His regional accent is Gascon. He relies heavily on the CDC's translators to be understood.
ENGLISH: When he was first dropped, the translators only gave him English, which wasn't helpful at all. Worried that it would happen again, he took basic English lessons from another character. He would understand basic orders, commands, instructions and simple phrases in English. He's nowhere close to fluent, but he tries. ■ INVENTORY: I try to keep track of it here.

❚❚❚❚❚ IC.■ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Go ahead - if he doesn't like it, he won't be slow about letting you know! He tends to be tactile with his friends.
■ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Sure! But please plot it out with me first. He won't hesitate to fight back and could be goaded into striking first if you annoyed him enough. He is naturally quite violent - he'll threaten to kill you if you hurt his friends, he'll be reactive to challenges and depending on how angry it's made him, he may find it hard to back down. If he's not angry he's a lot more reasonable. If he is, he'll act before he thinks, and it could as easily get him in trouble as you!
Would your character die for another character currently in the game? Yes. Honestly, he would die for a stranger. He thinks it's his duty to protect others.
Would your character kill for another character currently in the game? Yes, to protect them from someone who'd attacked them. He wouldn't be the one starting the fight, though, and he would restrain rather than kill where possible.
Is your character comfortable with and/or willing to mutilate a dead recruit’s body? No, absolutely not.
■ RELATIONSHIPS: He'll be friendly as a default unless he has a reason to dislike you. If you become close to him he will literally defend you with his life. Flirtation is fine - he'll be courteous about it, unless he dislikes you. Anything more romantic than that isn't going to happen, unless you are Constance Bonacieux. As a general rule, he is loyal and highly protective towards his friends, and if they're hurt he won't stop until he avenges them. He tends to hold grudges against people that he perceives have 'wronged' him, or someone he cares about.
■ MENTAL INFORMATION: He has no telepathic resistance of any kind, so if you're psychic, he'll be easy to infiltrate. What you'll get from him is a very clear sense of honour and duty, and a strong belief in loyalty and chivalry. Justice is important to him, but he has a vengeful spirit and he's protective by nature. He has a tendency to follow his heart rather than his head, meaning that his temper can get him in trouble. He's very brave and confident, but also reckless and kind of arrogant. Following the destruction of Ajna, he'll be dealing with a significant amount of guilt, self-hatred (for his role in it) and loathing for the CDC in general. His desire to destroy them will also be clear, though it is currently tempered by the more powerful desire to protect the people he loves. If you need anything more specific than that, please ask!
■ MEDICAL INFORMATION: No known medical problems. He's usually in good physical condition, very athletic and fit. He's also an ordinary human, no powers or mutations. He has a small scar from a blade on his right cheekbone, and another caused by a pistol shot to his left rib cage. His reckless approach to battle often leads to him picking up minor injuries like cuts, bruises and the occasional cracked rib after a fight.
Are they vertebrate? Yes.
Is “breathing” necessary for their survival? Yes.
Do they feel hunger? Yes.
How many fingers and eyes? Ten fingers and two eyes.
■ FAVORITE SENSORY INPUT: Touch.
■ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS:
Does your character have any physical, emotional, or psychological triggers? Have they told another recruit of these triggers?
The murder of anyone he loves would cause a violent reaction; he'd seek revenge and it would be hard to talk him down until some level of justice was achieved. Perceived injustice or dishonour will make him react to varying degrees, and what he sees as dishonour is closely tied to his own personal values and morality. Action will always be more important than words - discussion of a subject he doesn't like would only make him argue, but he'd intervene physically if he saw you taking action he didn't approve of. He'll also take all challenges seriously, and it's pretty easy to tempt him into a fight.
Under what circumstances will they reveal these triggers?
He wouldn't have enough self-awareness to tell someone about these things. He doesn't analyse himself like that. Anyone who has spoken to him, spent time around him, or generally been in his vicinity will probably have some awareness of it, though, since he also wears his heart on his sleeve. Particularly, anyone who saw him after the corpse rain, before/during/after the destruction of Ajna's Shai, or around the time of Ajna's endgame, will have seen this from him. Also, anyone that he's lectured about honour and respect. ■ REBELLIOUS TENDENCIES: In theory, d'Artagnan is predisposed to both rebelling against and disobeying the CDC. However, he's wary of causing harm to his friends / home planet by doing so. He argues with the Instructors when he doesn't like what's happening and he's tried to seek out other recruits who feel the same, but has stopped short of taking action because protecting those he cares for is the most important thing. Until the destruction of Ajna, he had only seen things he disagreed with - he hadn't had to do them. Now that this has changed, he feels his own personal morality has been compromised by what he's been asked to do. It will make him more volatile. The only way he was able to convince himself to take part in Ajna's destruction was by being reminded (by other recruits) of the consequences to his loved ones if he did not. In the longterm, he wants to take down the CDC themselves. If he has to help them in the short term in order to do that, then so be it - but the longer his contract goes on, the more he'll want to destroy them altogether.

❚❚❚❚❚ OOC.■ PLAYER: Kerry ■ PREFERRED CONTACT: Plurk: halfbloodly. I can also be found on AIM as mysterytourist. ■ BACKTAGGING: I'm happy to! Though if we've been backtagging the same thread for months, I may eventually have to ask you to wrap it up in order to keep CR consistent. ■ THREADHOPPING: Please do, I encourage that. ■ FOURTHWALLING: Go ahead, it won't bother him. It may make him think you're not all there, though. ■ ACTION VS PROSE: I'll do either, but I would prefer action if pushed. ■ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: Please warn me first if you're going to talk about either excessive gore/body horror/torture, or animal cruelty. Other than that, I'm cool with most things. ■ YES/NO SCENARIOS:
NO: Permanent death of my characters; severe body horror; amputation / permanent loss of critical body parts or functions; permanent loss of senses.
YES: Most other things are fine, save for the caveats in the list below. Mild-moderate torture, either doing or receiving, as well as action scenes, fights, non-permanent injuries, killing others, kidnappings, threats, is all fine. It's hard to think of everything you might wonder about, so I'll just leave this as saying if it's not on either of the other two lists, it's probably fine. I'm happy to discuss specifics if there are any queries!
MAYBE: I don't like animal cruelty, but I'm fine with things like hunting/killing for food, so it would depend on the situation. If it was temporary sensory loss / temporary character death / temporary loss of function, I'd probably be okay with it but I would want the opportunity to say no. Things like sexual harassment or abuse, extreme torture, killing or hurting children and mutilation (either doing, or having it done) might be okay but would depend on whether it's IC for the character to do it, and what the circumstances were. I'd be open to discussing it, at least. ■ ANYTHING ELSE? I don't think so, but if you have any questions please ask! |
